Recently, fishermen alert about the presence of a sperm whale in distress about ten kilometers from the coast of Mauritius. Hugues Vitry, scubadiver and president of the NGO Marine Megafauna Conservation Organisation Mauritius, plan the rescue of Tache Blanche, a young sperm whale he saw born 10 years earlier. In Mauritius’s water, you can meet more than a dozen species of whales and dolphins. Accidental takes in fishnets, collision with boats and pollution are an obvious threat to these mammals. Since 2013, the MMCO, chaired by Hugues Vitry, is conducting research on the local population of sperm whales. The team of « 1 Ocean, the Anatomy » supports Hugues Vitry’s commitment, and wishes to support him in his approach. You can help conserve cetaceans and dolphins by supporting MMCO.
